I’ve been reading Bad Blood, John Carreyrou’s book on the Theranos scandal, and it’s absolutely fascinating as a study in toxic leadership in tech. While much shorter, Mike Issac’s article on Facebook’s employee meeting this past Friday is another glimpse of toxicity.
Mr. Zuckerberg made it clear that Facebook would not hesitate to fire employees who spoke to The New York Times or other publications. But after an employee asked whether the company should issue a report about how many leakers Facebook had found and fired, Mr. Zuckerberg played down the idea.
Leaks, he said, are usually caused by “issues with morale.”
Maybe Elizabeth Holmes wasn’t an outlier. Maybe she was just really bad at being evil?
